Frequently Asked Questions

  • In what circumstances would an employer need to conduct a workplace assessment?

An employer may need to conduct a workplace assessment when an employee has sustained an injury, developed an illness or there has been a change in the employee's role or duties. The assessment will help identify any barriers in the employee's ability to perform their job and make recommendations for reasonable accommodations.

  • I am an employer; how do I arrange for a workplace assessment?

You can contact an occupational therapist to arrange for a workplace assessment. The therapist will need to come to your workplace to assess the employee's individual needs and make recommendations.

  • I am an employee, what should I expect from a workplace assessment?

The occupational therapist conducting the workplace assessment will ask you questions about your job. Questioning will include how your injury, illness or disability has affected your ability to perform your duties and what accommodations you may need in order to continue working. They will also assess your workstation and recommend changes to improve your comfort and safety while performing your job.
